Greetings Dear Texas Athletes, Coaches & Instructors,
It is with enthusiasm and joy that I bid and welcome you to participate in the
Texas State Taekwondo Tournament that is being held this year on March 24th at the Four Star Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, TX. Last years tournament proved to be a great success and I have no doubt that this years tournament will have the same fantastic outcome as well.
This year will also be an opportunity for our athletes and families to participate in the Jr. and Sr. Nationals and stay in our great state of Texas as the 2012 Jr. Olympics and Sr. Nationals will be here in Dallas this summer.
Please look over the enclosed material carefully and complete all documents. As this years tournament is run as a USAT state qualifier all registration is done online. Please contact us if online registration is not possible and we will aid in doing so. In order to ensure a smoothly run and on-schedule tournament, I strongly encourage all participants to pre-register early. It is also important to remember that tournament day registrations will not be permitted this year.
As we prepare for the Olympic Games in London this year, I would like to wish all of you good luck and I hope to see here at the 2012 Texas State Championships here in March as well as the Nationals here in Dallas this summer.

General Info REGISTRATION: ALL ATHLETE REGISTRATION must be done at www.usat.hangastar.com >>> GO TO REGISTRATION PAGE <<<
COACHING: A Coach is required for all Sparring Competitors. Coach Pass is $50 if
purchased online through USAT www.usat.hangastar.com. Coaches are NOT
required to have AC certification. $75 if purchased at the door. USAT
Membership is Required.
WEIGH INS: Weigh-In Required for all Sparring Athletes Weigh -Ins will be held on FRIDAY,
MARCH 23, 2012 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm at the convention center. Please pick
up your competition credentials at the weigh in.
AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
RULES: Current USAT Competition rules will govern this championship.
EQUIPMENT : WTF approved V-neck uniform only (no color trim except on black belt v-neck)
All Color Belt Kyoroogi competitors must wear (WTF approved): white, red or
blue head gear (red & blue headgear must be matched with chest protector
color) and, red and blue reversible chest protector, forearm guard, shin and
instep guard, groin cup (males only, worn inside) and CLEAR mouthpiece. Each
competitor must provide his or her own equipment.
ACADEMIC AWARDS: The Texas State Taekwondo Association will be presenting academic
awards for all athletes turning in a report card that sustained straight As throughout

Academic Awards The Texas State Taekwondo Association takes great pride in announcing the 20th presentation of the State Scholarship Award. The Award recognizes junior taekwondo students who have demonstrated academic excellence for the 2011-2012 school year, and will be presented at the Opening Ceremony for the 2011 Texas State Taekwondo Championship, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center To be eligible for this prestigious honor, a student must meet the following qualifications:
*Receive a grade of A in all school subjects through the most recent report card for the 2011-2012 academic year.
*Be a student in grades K through 12
*Be a student at a Taekwondo school in Texas
*Participate as a competitor in the 2012 TX State Taekwondo Championship. The Award consists of a special plaque presented by the Texas State Taekwondo Association.
To apply, send a complete copy of the most recent school report card, showing all grades received in the 2011-2012 academic year, together with the application. Do not send original report cards, as they will not be returned.
A ll applications must be received no later than March 17, 2012 .
